MACY’S CELEBRATES THE RETURN OF ITS ICONIC
BELIEVE CAMPAIGN WITH MAKE-A-WISH®
The annual letter writing program kicks off this week
WHAT: As the season of giving begins, Macy’s and Make-A-Wish team up for the 9th annual
Believe campaign, which includes the iconic letter writing program and festivities to
spread the spirit of generosity and goodwill.
From the beginning of November through December 24, “Believers” of all ages can mail a
letter to Santa at the big red letterbox at any local Macy’s store or online at
macys.com/believe. For every letter received, in store or online, Macy’s will donate $1 to
Make-A-Wish, up to $1 million, to help grant the wishes of children with life-threatening
MORE: Since 2008, Macy’s Believe campaign has brought together communities across the
country, gathering support for the common cause and resulting in nearly $13 million
donated to Make-A-Wish.
The Greater Los Angeles chapter kicked off its campaign on Sunday, November 6 with a
letter writing party in its new West Los Angeles office. Several wish kids and their
families, along with volunteers and community supporters participated in holiday fun, arts
and crafts, and writing letters to send off to the North Pole.
Wish kid Kathleen, whose wish to go to Barcelona was revealed last year on Believe Day
at the Macy’s in West Covina, attended the event. Still inspired by her wish, Kathleen is
now in college studying child development. She plans to promote the campaign at the
elementary school where she works as a teacher’s aide.
According to Kathleen, “The Macy’s Believe campaign and the Make-A-Wish Foundation
will always hold a special place in my heart because without them going to Barcelona
would just be a dream instead of a dream come true.”
This season also marks a major milestone, as Macy’s celebrates $100 million in total
giving to Make-A-Wish since 2003. That represents nearly three wishes granted every
day for the past 13 years, and more than 2.4 million people impacted in total by wishes
that Macy’s has helped grant, including wish kids and their families, volunteers,
community groups, nurses, doctors and more.
